twentyfour2go: gifts for the movie fanatic.

Let's be honest, there's not much going on at the home front other than Holiday shopping.  So Sunday night I was thinking about 1.) the fact that I gave up on blogging last week due to five action-packed days and 2.) that I foresee very few blog posts in December since my days will be spent scrambling to come up with gift ideas to wow the crowd without breaking the bank. 

So, if I'm having this much trouble...isn't everyone else?

And so, I decided that 24 days of fabulously frugal gift ideas might be helpful to some of you internets!  And voila! twentyfour2go was born (well, on Sunday, but I couldn't start until the official holiday month began.)  Each day will have a theme of sorts...geared towards that hard-to-shop for person.

And the inaugural edition is insprired by my future-brother-in-law who has a movie collection that can easily be seen from space.  Shelves and shelves and shelves of DVDs, every genre, every time period, all sorted and organized.  And with such a love of movies, what do you even get him?

So what do you get that movie fanatic in your life?

Movies of course!  As personal suggestions from someone who enjoys lots of different movies, how about The Proposal, The Ugly Truth, Four Christmases or Couples Retreat for those who love to laugh?  If a family movie is what you're after, then try Coraline, Night at the Museum II, or Up.  Die hard followers of popular flicks would love Twilight, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince  or Star Trek.  For those needing action, mystery or even a little scare, pick up Taken, The Stepfather, GI Joe or Angels & Demons.  Personally, my tried-and-true favorites have been The Holiday, The Bourne Trilogy or The Ocean's Trilogy.

new moon? mehhh.

The 12:01am showing didn't actually start till 12:07am.  That was the first strike against this movie.

Yes, I sucked it up and went to the midnight showing of 'New Moon' last night.  And I'll be honest, as much as I LOVE the books and liked the first movie, I was really disappointed ::throw random objects at me here::

I know.  Everyone who reads this now despises me, but I have to be truthful.  Maybe the fact that the second book is my least favorite skewed my opinion of the movie, but it just didn't have the same allure that the first one did.  A few notes:

1.) That blue filter in the first movie made all the difference.  The Cullens are kind of weird looking without it.  Their hazel-colored contacts, MAJORLY CREEPY in this movie and not at all realistic looking.

2.) Dakota Fanning was amazing.  Minus the fact that she too was wearing blood red contacts that look like she spilled ketchup in her eyes.

3.) Rosalie's blonde wig?  So eighties.

4.) The wolf graphics were really well done.  Especially when they are transitioning from human to werewolf.  Seamless.  They definitely gave the appearance of a supernatural animal.

5.) Did anyone else notice that in the beginning two scenes with both Edward/Bella together, he never really looks at her?

6.) The story line seemed kind of choppy to me, but then again, that always seems to be the case when you make a movie from a book.

Overall, I'd give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.  Definitely worth seeing if you're a Twi-hard, but for me personally I prefer the first movie.  But, I've read mixed opinions/reviews about the movie so you'll have to go see it for yourself!
